Luton Airport continues to recover from the car park fire a couple of weeks ago, and various parts of the airport are now starting to reopen.
The ‘meet and greet’ service is now available for Car Park 1 (the original multi-storey car park), which then requires a short walk across to the terminal. This is the only car park available once you get past the underpass. If you wish to use the meet-and-greet service, you have to prebook – something we can do for you.
On Sunday, the Luton DART also reopened. This is the monorail ‘shuttle’ from the Luton Parkway train station at the bottom of the hill, which opened earlier in the year and takes just four minutes. For regular passengers, this costs £4.90, however, if you’re a Luton resident, or have a bus pass you can get a concession – which has to be applied for in advance of travel.
For the moment, passenger drop-off remains in the Mid-stay car park, just before the underpass – with a shuttle between there and the airport terminal (or a short walk if you feel you want to).
We’re waiting for more information as to when this might be moved, to remove some of the congestion before the underpass and local roads in the area. Jackie travelled through Luton airport on Sunday, arriving three hours before the flight – which was too long, an extra 30 minutes before the flight would be fine.
