Your journey begins with an overnight flight to Siem Reap, where four nights allow ample time to explore the magnificent temples of Angkor Wat and Angkor Thom, as well as less-visited sites nearby. A break from the temples includes a relaxed morning by the pool or optional visit to Tonle Sap Lake. Leaving Siem Reap, travel overland to Kampong Cham, then on to the eastern highlands of Sen Monorom to visit an elephant sanctuary and explore minority villages, waterfalls and coffee plantations. Continue to Kratie, where you’ll stay by the Mekong River with the chance to spot Irrawaddy dolphins at sunset.
From Kratie, head to Phnom Penh for two nights in the capital before venturing south to Koh Kong, gateway to the Cardamom Mountains – one of Cambodia’s last wilderness areas. After time to relax or explore the jungle, continue to the coastal town of Kep for three nights, using it as a base to visit Kampot and explore the surrounding beaches, caves and islands.
