Following the fire last October, Luton Airport has operated a temporary drop-off system in the mid-stay car park, requiring a walk through the tunnel to the terminal. In good weather, it’s mostly fine and not as bad as it sounds, but with not the whole way undercover it’s not the best option when it’s raining.

However, starting this week there is a new option the airport is calling ‘express drop-off‘. Located next to the terminal (next to where the busses and coaches park, and close to the entrance of the sole-remaining multi-storey car park and the DART, the new express drop-off with be designed for drop-off only. It’s priced at £5 for 5 minutes, with every additional minute being charged at £1. As it’s cashless and barrier-free, you’ll be given until midnight the following day to pay the fee.

If you are a registered Blue Badge Holder, you’ll be able to drop off and pick-up in the new Express drop-off (although you still have to pay the £5 fee), but the alternative Blue Badge drop off in the multi-story will remain free of charge for 30 minutes on presentation of a badge.

If you wish to drop-off for free – the existing drop-off at the mid-term car park will remain where you’ll be able to walk as you do at the moment, or the long-term car park where you’ll be able to get the bus to the terminal door.

To pick up, there are two options. The mid-term car park and walk, or the long-term car park and get the shuttle bus. Both of which are free.
