Prague, Czech Republic

Prague

Prague, the enchanting capital of the Czech Republic, offers an unforgettable mix of Gothic, Baroque, and Renaissance architecture that makes it one of Europe’s most picturesque destinations. The iconic Charles Bridge, adorned with historic statues and lanterns, is a must-visit, offering stunning views of the Vltava River and the city’s skyline. The majestic Prague Castle, perched on a hill overlooking the city, is a sprawling complex that includes St. Vitus Cathedral, medieval halls, and lush gardens. Old Town Square, with its Astronomical Clock and colourful buildings, is the heart of Prague, bustling with street performers, markets, and alfresco cafes.

Beyond its historic landmarks, Prague is known for its cultural vibrancy and unique experiences. A visit to the city’s many museums, such as the Franz Kafka Museum or the Museum of Communism, provides insight into its fascinating history and literary heritage. For music lovers, Prague’s classical concerts, often held in ornate churches and concert halls, offer an auditory treat. Exploring the charming streets of the Lesser Town (Malá Strana) reveals hidden gems like quaint shops, art galleries, and serene gardens, making it the perfect place to immerse yourself in Prague’s bohemian atmosphere.

Prague’s culinary scene is another highlight, with traditional Czech dishes taking centre stage. Indulge in hearty meals like goulash, roast pork with dumplings, or trdelník, a sweet pastry often sold at street stalls. Pair these with world-famous Czech beers from local breweries for an authentic taste of the region. For those seeking a more modern dining experience, Prague boasts a growing number of Michelin-starred restaurants and trendy bistros. Whether you’re discovering its medieval charm, embracing its cultural richness, or enjoying its culinary delights, Prague is a destination that leaves a lasting impression.

The Aria is a celebration of music and this theme resonates throughout the hotel with each floor themed to either jazz, opera, classical or contemporary music and each room dedicated to a particular artist or composer. The hotel has a music library where the Aria’s Musical Director is on hand to assist guests with their choice from over 1,000 books, 2,000 CDs and 500 DVDs and to offer recommendations on the city’s numerous concerts and opera performances. The 51 bedrooms have been recently renovated and are all beautifully furnished in a contemporary style. The winter garden lounge has a grand piano, a fountain and an open fireplace, and the large rooftop terrace where breakfast, lunch and dinner are served in fine weather has some of the city’s most spectacular views. K+K Central

K+K Central

Our Favourite

This fantastic hotel opened in Spring 2004 after a major makeover of one of Prague’s most beautiful Art Nouveau buildings. Back then, it was a theatre, and the old-school details like stained glass and wrought iron are still there, blending well with the modern design. Breakfast is a must-try in the bright and spacious hall, and there’s plenty of room to chill in the lobby. The 130 bedrooms are super comfortable, and all the bathrooms have underfloor heating. There’s even a gym, a sauna, and massage treatments are available. Plus, the location is great – just a stone’s throw away from the Powder Tower and the Municipal Hall, on a quiet street.

BoHo Prague

BoHo

The BoHo, a chic boutique hotel, opened its doors in Prague’s Old Town in November 2015. It’s housed in a beautifully renovated former city post office building from the early 1900s. The interior is modern, but the soft, neutral colour palette and high-quality furnishings create a sophisticated ambiance. There are just 57 comfortable bedrooms, a lounge a lobby bar with high ceilings and full-length windows, and a glass-covered restaurant in the courtyard. On the lower floors, there’s a wellness area with a plunge pool, sauna, and steam room.
