I did a small taster cruise with Ambassador in the winter from a very cold Dundee to Tilbury (technically it’s home port). Although the port in Dundee is somewhat basic, you get a really efficient welcome and you’re onboard the ship in no time. I was on Ambition, the smaller of the two Ambassador ships – which has easy-to-remember layout with two communal decks and three cabin decks.
For the price, it’s outstanding value. It’s not a ‘luxury’ line, and neither does it pretend to be – but the food is great, and the entertainment onboard is excellent. Most of the cruises in the summer from Tilbury are on the larger Ambience, with really interesting itineraries around Europe (and especially good around the UK and to Norway). So much so, that I’m going on a Christmas Market cruise with them again in December!
