Sea Dream

SeaDream Yacht

SeaDream Yacht Club offers an intimate and luxurious yachting experience, distinguishing itself with its motto, “It’s yachting, not cruising.” Founded in 2001 by Norwegian entrepreneur Atle Brynestad, the company operates two identical mega-yachts, SeaDream I and SeaDream II, each accommodating up to 112 guests and staffed by a 95-person crew. This high crew-to-guest ratio ensures personalised service and a relaxed, club-like atmosphere onboard. SeaDream’s vessels are designed to access smaller harbours and ports that larger ships cannot reach, allowing for unique itineraries in destinations such as the Mediterranean, Caribbean, and Northern Europe

The SeaDream experience is characterised by its all-inclusive offerings, which encompass gourmet dining, premium beverages, gratuities, and a variety of onboard amenities. Guests can enjoy activities like water sports, spa treatments, and themed events, all within a casual yet elegant setting. The yachts feature spacious suites with ocean views, and the “Top of the Yacht” bar provides 360-degree vistas, perfect for evening cocktails. The onboard lifestyle is designed to be unstuffy, focusing on relaxation and social interaction among like-minded travellers

SeaDream’s clientele primarily consists of affluent, well-travelled individuals, often couples aged 40 and above, who appreciate the understated luxury and personalised service offered. The company has cultivated a loyal following, with many guests returning for multiple voyages. SeaDream’s commitment to excellence is reflected in its high guest satisfaction ratings and numerous industry accolades. Whether seeking a romantic getaway, a cultural exploration, or a relaxing retreat, SeaDream Yacht Club provides a distinctive and memorable yachting experience.

Although I only spent the afternoon onboard Sea Dream II, you could still get a sense of what a special experience travelling on a yacht around the world is and can be. This isn’t really your normal cruise – the staterooms (none of them) have balconies, and there is an emphasis on the social, almost family-like atmosphere onboard.

That’s not to say there aren’t some lovey touches either – like glassware from it’s sister company Hadeland in Norway (the owner is Norwegian), or the water sports facilities available in some destinations – or the beautiful food offering.

Although they travel to many places around the world, you do get a feeling that it comes into its own in sunnier and warmer climes – with the option of dining everyone on deck – to sleeping under the stars.
