Suggested Itinerary
Days 1-3
Tokyo
Tokyo comes alive after dark, so on your second evening in the city, we’ll introduce you to a private guide for a tour through its renowned street-food scene.
Day 4
Tsumago
Travel by rail to Tsumago for your walk along the Nakasendo Highway, enjoying views of temples and rice paddies.
Days 5-6
Hiroshima
Visit the Peace Memorial Park, dedicated to an examination of the 1945 bombing. The next day, take the ferry to nearby Miyajima Island to see its ‘floating’ red torii (shrine gates).
Days 7-9
Kyoto
Meet with Duncan, our own expert on Kyoto, for a tour through Kyoto’s less-visited districts. He’ll guide you off the tourist trail and reveal the city’s ancient and modern sides.
Days 10-11
Hakone
You’ll have a Hakone Free Pass, which will allow you to explore the park and its many museums in the shadow of Mount Fuji.
Day 12
Tokyo
Spend one last night in Tokyo before your return flight.
