Suggested Itinerary
Day 1-2
Medan
Your guide will wait to greet you at Medan Airport and transfer you to your hotel by car.
Day 3-4
Tangkahan
Travel by private 4×4 to your secluded lodge in Tangkahan, set deep within the rainforest of Gunung Leuser National Park. Enjoy a private guided trek through the jungle on arrival, then spend the following day exploring further with activities such as river tubing and forest walks, before an afternoon at leisure to relax or join another guided trek.
Day 5-6
Bukit Lawang
Travel from Tangkahan to Bukit Lawang, where you’ll venture into the surrounding rainforest with your guide in search of wild orangutans and other native wildlife. Spend the following day exploring deeper into the jungle, enjoying a full day of guided trekking and wildlife spotting around Bukit Lawang.
Day 7
Jakarta
Morning transfer back to Medan for your flight to the capital city of Jakarta where a guide will be waiting to take you to your hotel. Your afternoon will be at leisure.
Day 8
Bandung
Transfer to Bandung today. This afternoon enjoy a traditional Javanese dance performance and learn about the local crafts at a traditional arts centre located just outside of Bandung.
Day 9-12
Yogyakarta
Travel by scenic train across western Java to Yogyakarta, where you’ll explore the city’s rich cultural heritage with a visit to the Kraton (Sultan’s Palace) and time to wander at your own pace. Rise early the next morning to witness sunrise over the magnificent Borobudur Temple before visiting the grand Hindu complex of Prambanan later in the day, then transfer to the airport for your flight home.
