Suggested Itinerary
Day 1 -3
Mexico City
Kick off with a private tour of Mexico City, which we’ll tweak to your interests – delve into its food scene, the art of Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera, or its many museums. There’s also time to visit the nearby pre-Aztec ruins of Teotihuacan.
Day 4-5
San Cristobal de las Casas
Your private tour of this small historic town gives you a vivid sense of the local Maya and Catholic syncretic beliefs. Expect to see Christian Icons all but buried among chanting shamans, idols, and hundreds of flickering candles.
Day 6
Palenque
Palenque’s Maya structures soar out of the jungle canopy. You” explore this site (and can climb some of it) with a private guide, who’ll decode the intact but cryptic carved stonework.
Day 7-10
Merida and Chichen Itza
There’s always something astir in the stately city of Merida come evening, as local Jarana folk music and dancing come alive. In the day, visit the Mayan ruins of Uxmal, where your guide will uncover the legends surrounding its round-sided Pyramid of the Magician. Then travel to Chichen Itza for an early-morning tour ahead of the crowds.
Day 11-14
Isla Holbox
A sleepy, car-free island just off the Yucatan, Isla Holbox is your backdrop for a few days of unwinding on the sand.
