British Airways announced this week the return of two popular services to Asia this coming winter, Bangkok in Thailand and Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia.
Thailand remains one of the top destinations for British travellers, not just in Asia, and since the pandemic, we have been quite short on the number of direct services to the country. There is a daily flight with Eva Air from Heathrow, and Thai operates a variable schedule to Bangkok. However, many wanted to see the return of British Airways, long-known for stopovers en route to Australia. There is a catch – it’s only three times a week, and it’s being operated from Gatwick instead of Heathrow.
Departures: Monday, Thursday and Saturday
London Gatwick 2100 – Bangkok 1555+
Departures: Tuesday, Friday and Sunday
Bangkok 2255 – London Gatwick 0530+
The service starts on 28 October 2024.
Kuala Lumpur is another city in Asia that British Airways dropped during the pandemic. Although its partner airline Malaysian Airlines offers a very good schedule from Heathrow throughout the year, many prefer the security of our national carrier. There will of course be onward connections to some of our favourite destinations in Malaysia such as Langkawi or Borneo, and onwards to Australia and New Zealand.
London Heathrow 2045 – Kuala Lumpur 1730+
Kuala Lumpur 2320 – London Heathrow 0535+
The service starts 10 November 2024
