The UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) has updated its travel advice for Saudi Arabia, now advising against all but essential travel to the country, following a deterioration in regional security.
The advice, updated on 16 October 2026, follows missile and drone attacks attributed to Yemen’s Houthi movement, including a serious incident at King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh on 10 October. The FCDO warns of an increased threat to airports, ports, military facilities and energy infrastructure, with further attacks and flight disruption considered very likely. It continues to advise against all travel within 10km of the border with Yemen.
