MUSIC PROGRAMME
27 MARCH: COLE PORTER AND THE GREAT AMERICAN SONGBOOK
From Anything Goes to High Society, Kiss Me Kate to Can Can, Cole Porter was the greatest musical songwriter of the first half of the 20th century. Joe and the band have been adapting his songs for years, and Joe has great tales and jokes from Cole’s life – this then leads into the rest of the Great American Songbook, covering Gershwin, Rodgers & Hart, Irving Berlin, Dorothy Fields, Cy Coleman, Harold Arlen and many more. The trio setting is the perfect way to the capture the brilliance and playfulness of these songs, with scintillating interplay between the musicians and stunning arrangements to make these songs appear as fresh as a daisy (in green pasture…).
28 MARCH: SONGS ON FILM
The greatest movie music! A show which first appeared at the Edinburgh Fringe to rave reviews (5 stars in The Scotsman) and subsequently toured the UK three times. Deft and witty takes on well known songs, with Joe’s film knowledge and inside trivia coming to the fore. As The Times said “dapper, handsome and quick witted… and gifted with dazzling digits”.
29 MARCH: THEATRE
Featuring songs from Joe’s thrilling new album Theatre, recorded with The Metropole Orkest. Rodgers & Hammerstein to Lin Manuel Miranda and everything in between. The show is touring the UK at the moment, and this will be a rare chance to see this show in a beautifully intimate setting.
