In India

My first trip to India was truly a wonderful experience. Having never visited the region before, I was unsure of what to expect. My trip took me to the Hard Rock Hotel in Calangute, Northern Goa and I was accompanied by my husband and 2 friends. Pick-up and check-in was very smooth, and the information provided covered all the things you needed to know. Staff were always in hand to provide any extras required and full tips and suggestions.

Hotels in this area and normally amongst the hustle and bustle, so there is a great contrast between relaxing in your hotel and stepping out into the surrounding areas. The hotel itself was a little tired, but the facilities were great, and the staff were amazing. The food was also fantastic, but you need to be prepared for the spices and to try the wonderful selection on offer.

We were overwhelmed by the fabulous choice of restaurants in the area and the standard of food. A typical 3-course meal with drinks was in the region of £10 per person, an absolute bargain. The beaches are great and are full of shacks to eat and drink. Calangute Beach itself is very busy, so I would recommend the beach in Candolim, which is around 15 minutes away. This beach is more relaxing and less crowded, and we attended a wedding here after meeting some wonderful people at our hotel.

All in all, a wonderful experience and I would definitely go back. The only difference is that I would stay in the area of Candolim for the better beach and more relaxed atmosphere.
