In Behind The Scenes, News

Last week I was delighted to be invited by Simon Calder onto his daily Independent Travel Podcast, a short less-than-ten-minute round-up usually on something topical that’s happening that day.

Whilst I was at the Destinations show in London, where he was doing a talk and Q&A session, a book signing and interviewing legendary travel guide publisher Hilary Bradt – I sat down with him to talk about the year so far. January is traditionally the busiest time of year in the travel industry, so there are no guesses as to why there are two big travel shows in January! So, it wanted to know what was selling, what wasn’t selling and why – and in the face of over-tourism in some destinations, what can we do to get tourism back to some destinations like Syria, Israel and potentially Ukraine in the future to help them rebuild.

It’s somewhat of an honour to be invited, alongside some esteemed former guests – including our friend at Advantage Julia Lo Bue Said, aviation guru John Strickland, and Travel PR supremo Paul Charles.
