In JetBlue, New York

Our favourite airline to the US East Coast is updating its home in New York, aimed at improving the experience for travellers over the next couple of years.

JetBlue has its own terminal in New York – Terminal 5, which was first built nearly 20 years ago. Since it has already been expanded, they are also going to provide a connection to Terminal 6, along with building their first ever lounge, which can be accessed by their Mint guests and their most frequent travellers. Although we love their product across the Atlantic, a lounge is something they miss compared to their competitors.

As part of the refresh for the terminal, there will be new concessions spotlighting’ locally owned businesses in New York – beloved by New Yorkers and now international guests worldwide. There will be more than 40 new concessions, and customer experiences include 18 new food and beverage concessions.

The centrepiece is going to be their recreation of a New York park in the centre concourse with trees and benches, and it will allow for pop-up events as well.

When I travelled through Terminal 5 last year, you do sense that it’s a slightly different travelling experience than normal, as it’s not that big. (Although security can take a bit of time). It’s also directly opposite the TWA hotel (former terminal) if you want to experience the rooftop pool, or stay the night following a connection.
