In Community, Responsible Travel

As many of you know, we have a close affiliation with Portugal. We are very conscious that communities in high touristic areas have been signalling negative comments about tourists this summer, so we’re playing our small bit in giving back to our local community in the Algarve.

A few weekends ago we hosted a barbeque in Carvoeiro organised by the local Lodge of Peace & Harmony (No 96), raising funds for the Tiny Shelter at Guia, and the Girls Hostel in Portimao. The event raised £500, and TravelTime World matched this amount to make it £1000 shared between the two.

Tiny Shelter

Tiny Shelter is a small donation-based animal shelter run by Isabel Searle on the Algarve. She is passionate about sustainable animal welfare, and for decades has fought to improve the situation for as many animals in Portugal as possible, and has on average 80 dogs need rehoming, so she consistently requires both helpers and food.

The Girls Hostal supports 11 girls between 8 and 18 who need various items not supplied by the authorities and rely on the public’s generosity to continue their work.
