In Awards, Responsible Travel

We’re really excited that Ashley has been shortlisted for the Sustainable Travel Champion award at TTG’s Top 50 Travel Agency Awards next month in Manchester.

It is just over a year since we started our journey in sustainability and responsible travel. Whilst yes, of course, we consider carbon emissions and the environment, it has opened our eyes to a world where we can all travel smarter and better. We have achieved so much in the last twelve months, and have plans to do a lot more in the next couple of years as we aim to achieve BCorp status within the next couple of years.

As an outline of what we have done in the last 12 months:
– Written and distributed a new ‘Responsible Travel Guide’
– Distributed an accompanying album to the guide called ‘There’s So Much More To Do’
– New internal policies on sustainable/responsible experiences and transport (train journeys for example)
– New Animal Welfare Policy
– New Purpose statement
– Talked at an ABTA event about how you can get started as an agent in Responsible Travel – and carbon counting
– Became a Sustainable Travel Ambassador with TTG Media
– Attended an ABTA Roundtable on Animal Welfare
– Amended some of our partners, who have more responsible policies aligned with our own
– Won Advantage’s ESG Champion award
– Assisted a new tour operator in their start-up phase, with tips on their messaging in responsible tourism
– Reduced our overall consumption, recycled where possible (and reused) – removing all own-branded consumables.
– Made sustainability a core part of the business – and at a recent dinner, where our friend, 5News’ Katherine Nash interviewed our tour operator partners, including at least a question on sustainability.
