In Italy

easyJet has announced it will fly from a new airport to the south of the Amalfi coast this summer, a great alternative to the well-known and sometimes difficult Naples airport.

For those who have travelled to Sorrento, Amalfi, Positano or Capri, especially in the height of the summer season, you’ll know how problematic it can be. The airport at Naples can often be overcrowded, you can wait for ages to pick up a car, and though scenic, the road from Naples to Sorrento can be a little ‘hairy’ at times especially when there is a lot of traffic.

Thankfully, we now have an alternative, with easyJet starting a new service to Salerno, just south of the Amalfi Coast (instead of north) which should provide a calmer, and quieter experience. It’s just operating twice a week for the moment, starting on the 13th July, just in time for the main school holidays.

These are the flight details:

Tuesdays
London Gatwick 1525 – Salerno 1910
Salerno 1945 – London Gatwick 2140

Saturdays
London Gatwick 0635 – Salerno 1020
Salerno 1050 – London Gatwick 1245
