In Caribtours, Family Holidays, Hotels, Maldives

The sister property to Moofushi is around 30 minutes away by speedboat and makes for an appealing twin centre (in fact, that’s what Claudia Winkleman is doing this Christmas!). Although they are sisters, the Halaveli is a larger island more suited to families (as it has a Kids Club, Tennis Court, and multiple Water Sports available on the beach). We went out on a Fun Tube – which is a bit like sitting on a sofa whilst being pulled by a speedboat!

Unlike all the other properties we have stayed at, this doesn’t do all-inclusive as standard. Although it comes at quite a premium, it’s worth having as nothing is cheap (although all the restaurants are included on the half board option if you want to do that and skip lunch, like what I do). We had lunch by the ocean edge, and once again you couldn’t fault the food – I had a spring roll, which was amazing.

There are lots of different room categories here – although quite unusual for the Maldives, the Water Villas are the cheaper option. They are certainly grander than at Moofushi – with a split room and bathroom layout and a large decked area outside with a stunning plunge pool. There is also one two-bedroomed option over the water too.

On land, you’ll find a number of larger accommodations, which are great for families – again with their own pools. Some are bungalow style on the beach, whilst others are two-story – the size varies and the amount of space varies as well, with the smallest only having a small annexe for small children.

It’s a classier resort than Moofushi – although more of an all-rounder with a beautiful setting.
