We helped establish the Responsible Travel Advisor Collective because we believe travel advisors have an important, and often overlooked, role to play in making tourism more responsible. We are the people who sit between the traveller and the travel industry, helping clients decide where to go, who to travel with and which experiences to choose. Yet, until now, there has been relatively little collective voice for travel advisors when it comes to responsible tourism.

We wanted to bring together advisors who share the belief that responsible travel should not simply be an optional extra, but something that can be considered in every holiday we recommend. By working together, sharing knowledge and challenging one another, we can give advisors greater confidence to ask the right questions, make better-informed choices and encourage the industry to raise its standards.

The aim of the Responsible Travel Advisor Collective is to create that collective voice and use it to drive practical change. RTAC brings together UK travel advisors who are committed to improving the way tourism impacts people, places, animals and the environment. Its ambitions include increasing knowledge and training, promoting responsible suppliers, improving animal welfare, supporting local communities, reducing environmental impact and encouraging greater transparency from tour operators and industry partners.

Crucially, RTAC is not about claiming perfection; it is about being willing to learn, asking better questions and continually improving. We want responsible travel to become a genuine part of the commercial conversation, giving advisors the tools and confidence to sell it effectively while using our collective influence to help shape a better future for the industry.
